Emmy and Golden Globe award winning actor, Peter Dinklage, star of Game of Thrones, has joined Cruelty Free International’s campaign to support the introduction of the Humane Cosmetics Act, and end animal testing for cosmetics in the U.S.

Dinklage, who first joined Cruelty Free International as its US Ambassador in April 2012, said, “Testing cosmetics on animals is a cruel, outdated, and unnecessary practice. I am proud to join Cruelty Free International in supporting the Humane Cosmetics Act to end cosmetics testing on animals in the United States.”

Cruelty Free International Chief Executive, Michelle Thew commented, “We congratulate U.S. Representatives Don Beyer (D-VA), Martha McSally (R -AZ), Joe Heck (R -NV) and Tony Cardenas (D-CA), for introducing this landmark bill. We are delighted to have the support of Peter Dinklage and we now urge everyone to call on their Representatives to get behind the Humane Cosmetics Act so that the United States can join the global trend in moving away from the cruel use of animals to test cosmetics.

The European Union ban on the testing and marketing of animal-tested cosmetics and ingredients came into effect in 2013.  As well as Europe, Israel and India now have bans in place while New Zealand, Brazil, South Korea, and Vietnam are also making strides toward ending cosmetics testing on animals and China has lifted the animal testing requirement for certain cosmetics produced within China.
